Gelatin Printing Class

A couple of weeks ago I attended a class on gelatin printing at Beautiful Impressions in Westbrook, CT. It was taught by Terri Lightfoot and was a lot of fun! We used Gelli Plates by Gelli Arts. I made several prints; here's the one I like best. I made it with hand cut leaf-shaped masks and a stencil by The Crafters' Workshop:

Gelatin Monoprints - October 2011

I recently bought a new tool, a synthetic gelatin plate by Gelli Arts, and have been having fun making monoprints with it on rice paper, using acrylic paint, stamps, stencils and other materials for texture. I love the results of my experiments!

Composition Class - Abstract Landscape Lesson

For lesson 2 of the composition class I'm currently taking, we started our abstract landscape lesson with a warm up exercise, and followed these with abstract landscape studies. Here's my work - 6 warm ups followed by 3 landscapes. The one on the right is still a work in progress.

Elements Class

My Elements of Art Journaling class is going full steam ahead and I'm having a lot of fun with it! Here's my work to-date (Cover, Elements Spread, Earth Spread). The black and white frogs and oval leaves owe thanks to Jane Davies - I took these impressions onto tissue in her Scribble Collage class from her hand-made stamps.

Collage Studies - Shapes

I am loving Jane Davies' Keys to Dynamic Composition online class! Our first lesson was a study in shapes. Here are my three variations:

Scribble Collage!

I had a great time this weekend attending Jane Davies's Scribble Collage class at the Guilford Art Center. We painted and stained papers to our hearts content, then tore them into pieces and created wonderful collages! Here are my creations - work in progress, followed by finished pieces:

I'll be joining Jane and fellow classmate Sharon for Jane's online class Keys to Dynamic Composition starting next week - I am so excited!

2009 Art Journal (Video)

My journaling consists mostly of a visual and a piece of writing on opposite pages. Last summer, I used the images and the writings for 2009 to create a powerpoint slide video:

The Elements of Art Journaling

I've signed up for Effy Wild's class, The Elements of Art Journaling, and I can't wait 'til it starts on July 1! Check out her promo for more information:
